![]() If you're a new ham stay away, this HT will frustrate you. Hardware good, user interface extremely bad. No button to reverse repeater input/output. Switches back to FM very slowly after getting RX. Bringing up the FM radio is extremely slow. Operations can take 5x as many button presses as any other cheap radio. When dual watch is enabled the arrows glitch and you cannot really tell whether RX is on A or B if both channels are busy. Has an SMA-F connector which is unusual for cheap radios. 100% compatible with Retevis RT85 firmware which is often newer baseband. HT sports a boxy look that makes it look more professional than it is. There is a must-have upgrade for this HT, the 2200 mAh GM-30 battery which features a USB-C port. The speaker/mic set is generally pretty good and gets good compliments. RX/TX does seem slightly more stable than Baofengs. I examined the transmissions with an SDR and from my layman point of view there was less splatter than my Baofeng. ![]()
